Every once in a while GrandpasDotCom features an artist that deserves a little extra attention. This is generally someone that  you will not hear on the radio but you may find them playing in a local honky tonk in your area on Saturday night cranking out some really great tunes. This musician might perform top 40 covers or might perform all original music. This will be the musician that makes you tap your toes and sing along. This will be the musician that makes you jump out of your chair and hit the dance floor. This will be the musician that you'll think should be bigger than they are. This will be the musician that has turned performing music into an art form. This will be the musician known as Grandpas Feature Artist. There is no set criteria to become Grandpas Feature Artist. The feature artist is simply someone that Grandpa feels is really great and deserves a little extra attention. So, check out Grandpas Feature Artist then look at Grandpas concert schedule page and go see the artist do what they do best.

Wayne Hubbard has become one of my favorite local artist's that deserves a more attention than he gets. The first time I heard Wayne I wasn't paying attention to him at all. I did notice Wayne had a neat look that night. He was opening for Jason Boland at the Firehouse Saloon in Houston, Texas. Wayne was dressed in a black shirt with a black hat and kind of reminded me of Hank Williams Jr. at first glance. I did take a couple of pictures of Wayne that night and sent them to his MySpace page. He responded a couple days later and invited me out to hear his full show. Once I sat down and really listened, I was amazed by the real and raw country sound coming from the stage. Singing mostly original songs, Wayne has a sound that is the kind of music that is missing on radio today. Every time he opens for the likes of Bleu Edmondson, Jackson Taylor, Jason Boland and more, he gains more fans that understand what real country music should sound like. With a little more time in the trenches opening for the bigger Texas acts, Wayne Hubbard will soon be the one selling out the popular venues in Texas.
